Dream Sounds to rock Negril!

In addition to the sun, sand, liqueur and the beach, Dream weekend is all about the vibes, and a big part of creating that vibe is the music which comes from the selectors.

Consisting of seven parties, each Dream event has a different musical vibe and a number of disc jocks to make the experience even better. For Dream weekend, taking place from July 30-August 2, there are three official sounds/DJs for the weekend are: 'Dream Coppershot', 'Dream Dimension', aka 3rd Dimension, and 'Dream Liquid.' A number of other selectors (some to be announced) will also play as well.

According to Kamal Bankay from the Dream Team, these three were chosen as the official sounds of the weekend because, "well Liquid and Coppershot were the sounds from last year and they did an excellent job in Negril and for the lead-up. Since then they have both maintained high visibility, Coppershot being a popular sound and Liquid being the number one DJ on radio. 3rd Dimension is the hottest uptown sound and one of the promoters, myself, plays on the sound."

Coppershot

The 16-year-old sound has been a fixture on the party scene both at uptown and downtown events.

One of the official sounds of Dream weekend last year and this year, Coppershot has been blazing the summer leading up to Negril.

Consisting of Matthew Gray, Shaun Anderson, Small Voice, DJ Donny, Marc Chin, DJ Sanjay, DJ Cutty, DJ Ash and Jason Henriques, Coppershot will be rotating their selectors throughout the weekend.

The sound is scheduled to perform at: Flavours, Twisted Spiritz, Daydreams, Yush, Wet N' Wild and Beer Vibes.

Gray said, "you know Coppershot is known as the high energy sound and we're gonna be even 'vibesy-er' for the Dream weekend. We're dubbing the whole weekend 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun' which means that we're putting the girls first, it's all about the ladies so it's gonna be a crazy vibe, a dream come true."

ZJ Liquid

Having been selecting since 1992, ZJ Liquid has been a cornerstone at ZIP FM for the last eight years, building his 'fresh 2 death' brand and becoming one of the most popular radio jocks.

The ZJ was one of the official Dream DJs last year and this year will be playing at Flavours, Yush, Beer Vibes, Wet N' Wild and Smirnoff Xclusive.

He said, "basically last year it was breaking ground for Dream weekend and we did break it, this year is a more advance Liquid. Cause now you have Liquid di artiste so people can expect some performances and the same tough playing, the crazy party juggling - we in Negril mode."

He added, "definitely we'll have some fresh custom stuff for Negril like last year with a lot of specials for different parties. It's the biggest party weekend in Jamaica so we have to have the best playlist together."

3rd Dimension

The new kids on the block, 3rd Dimension was established a year ago and consists of DJs Kamal Bankay, Mario C and Kurt Riley - all of whom will be playing during the weekend.

Scheduled to perform at Xtreme Wet N' Wild and Smirnoff Xclusive, Mario C said, "considering that the sound is called 3rd Dimension people can expect a new dimension musically for Dream weekend. It's gonna be sum'n spectacular with a lot of remixes and dubplates."

Also scheduled to play throughout the weekend are: Crazy Neil, Chromatic, DJ Smurf, Johnny Kool, DJ Narity, Renegade, Delano, Jazzy T and a guest performance from Tony Matterhorn at Xtreme Wet 'N' Wild - as well as many more.
