Nicki Minaj revealed her debut album title to fans during an Ustream broadcast last night (August 3). The Young Money rapper will release the LP on November 23rd, the Tuesday prior to Black Friday, and therefore decided to name the project, Pink Friday.
“To carry on a great tradition of Black Friday, we are going to switch it up this year in honor of the Nicki Minaj album and call that day Pink Friday, and call my album Pink Friday,” announced Minaj towards the end of the nearly four hour chat.
For all of her fans who weren’t able to pull up the broadcast, Nicki also tweeted the album title. “11.23.10. - Pink Friday - The Album,” wrote the femcee.
Talking about the LP with MTV News, earlier this year, Minaj said: “When people hear the album, they’re going to get to know Onika [her birth name is Onika Maraj]. And no one knows Onika. I really didn’t think I would be this excited about the songs that I’m coming up with. I’m really, really proud.”
The Young Money MC released the project’s debut single Massive Attack earlier in the year but it failed to take off. Her second single Your Love though took the top spot on the Billboard Rap Songs chart.
Pink Friday will feature collaborations with Swizz Beatz and Boi-1da, amongst others.
