Vybz Kartel conquers Europe with successful tour!

Vybz Kartel returned to Jamaica early this week after a successful weekend tour of Europe.

He was clearly one of the most anticipated artists of the 2nd Annual Amsterdam Reggae Festival, people were actually placing bets on whether or not he would actually perform. Those who bet on the Teacha must have been pleased when he took the stage at the Heineken Music Hall wearing Clarks, and alongside his musical 'son' Popcaan.

Tour manager/agent Brad Hemmings of Caribbean Entertainment explained that "after launching the festival last year with Shabba's first European performance in 14 years we were under pressure to top that and Vybz was that artist everyone wanted to see."

Also on the lineup were Sizzla, Gyptian, Barrington Levy and Fantan Mojah.

After landing in Europe, Vybz first stopped in Zurich, Switzerland where he performed for almost 2 hours at the Crystal Club. The Grammy winning artist Lee "Scratch" Perry was among the capacity crowd that came out to see Kartel's performance.

In Paris, Kartel impressed the crowd with his grasp of basic French by declaring "J'Mapelle Kartel" to the sold out crowd at Elyesse Montmarte before ripping through a powerful set.

The world-renowned venue has hosted performances from some of the world's greatest artistes.

Vybz was interviewed backstage at the Amsterdam Reggae Festival by BBC's Robbo Ranx who left London despite the Annual 1xtra concert on the same night to interview the controversial artist.

"Europe tun up," Kartel said of his tour, "mi ready fi go again".

Plans are already on the way for a tour in the summer of 2011. In the meantime, the deejay has a number of upcoming performances including a huge show for the island of Suriname in November.
